IMPORT PLAYER NAMES
The Import names option under the File Menu is used to make names from a .txt file available to the Scorers. The recommendation is to keep all possible names on file so that also visiting players can be presented with name. You can subscribe to such lists from support@bridge-scorer.com.

The command Import player names  is reached from the FILE menu; it opens a Windows (standard) Open dialog. Select the source file and importation will be automatic.

Import failed
If you get the message Import failed it is because the source file was not correctly formatted.

Invalid name
The names that are listed under the header Invalid name were omitted at the import. If the list seems empty (as in the example shown to the right) it is because the source file contained blank lines. You can safely disregard entirely blank reports.

Format of source file
The source file must be a comma separated file in the form <player number>,<player name>. An example:
2028XXX,Elena A
1563XXX,Beverly A'Hearn
9027XXX,Terje Aa
6792XXX,Chris Aaberg
2644XXX,H Aaberge
(XXX has replaced the last 3 digits in the example.)

The ID can be up to 12 digits and the player name can be of any length. The maximum length that can be presented at the table is 20 characters (including spaces between the first, middle and last name). You can indicate how you want the control software to shorten long names in the Preferences dialog that is opened via the SYSTEM menu.

FUTURE STARTS
Note that once you have imported names from a text file, those names will be available at every future start. BSC will tell when it loads the names, see illustration to the right.

The only way to prevent that the names are loaded from the text file is to remove the names.txt file from the BridgeScorer folder. The idea is that you should keep the names.txt file until it has become obsolete and then replace it with a new (via the import function described above).

ACBLscore
The message to the right comes up the first time you start BSC from ACBL-score.

You should answer "No" if the PC is not connected to the Internet.

A tick in the box Do not show again will suppress the message until the day when a new file is available on the Internet.

You should first of all check that the PC is connected to the Internet if you would get the message Download failed.
